"Ready to jump?" Lexi says, squeezing my hand.

"In more ways than one, darling." I say, brushing her hand with my lips. The softness of her skin, reminiscent of how soft she felt molded against my hard body, has my head spinning.

"Sometimes I have no idea what you're thinking, Chandler Thomas," Lexi muses, her cheeks a pleasant pink. “Other times, it's sprawled across your face in bright letters."

Unwillingly, I’m flooded with guilt. This beautiful, primal connection keeps growing, but it’s built on a weak foundation. She doesn't know the truth.

If I tell her now, she will despise me. Then again, I won't see her again after the trip. No contact. Maybe it doesn't matter if I come clean. Why should I ruin her happiness?

"Now you look sad. You need some candy," Lexi says. “C’mon. Jump!”

Hand in hand, we soar out of the chair, our feet landing in unison on firm ground.
